Cortisol or hydrocortisone is a steroid hormone is produced by the adrenal gland which is controlled and released when a person is stressed or is afraid something. One of the roles that cortisol has are the increasing of blood sugar and the suppressing of the immune system. More, it is important in the metabolism of fat, protein and carbohydrate.
The importance of cortisol has increased as it is used in curing different diseases. One of the diseases the cortisol can cure or makes them easier are Addison’s disease, inflammatory diseases, rheumatism, and allergies. The cortisol levels vary depending on the situation we are in or the mood we are in. In case we are stressed, then the level will increase. The most increased cortisol levels are in the morning and it decreases in the morning, at about 4 am. Cortisol levels also differ at the people who have autism or Asperger’s syndrome.
The cortisol can vary from one person to another, but usually the rhythms are constant. A constant increase cortison can determine psychological problems, especially of this happens on a longer period of time. Cortisol also stimulates the gastric acid, so has multiple roles in our body. In fact, our body is like a factory where everything is very well established and very organs knows what are its duties. When the equilibrium that is there disappears, then the problems start to appear, so it is good to stay calm and to have a healthy life. Stress, however, is the most dangerous enemy for our health. Staying in a permanent mood of stress can make us very angry, nervous, depressive and more. Collagen, renal secretion, sodium, potassium, copper, immune system, memory are all influenced by the steroid hormone called cortisol. Without it, our body could not work and we could not even survive, in fact.
