Cortisol is a steroid that can release in the body different substances that prevent inflammation. This is why cortisol is used to treat different diseases. The appearance of the person being treated with cortisol may change because of the last. The other side effects are more serious and if those happen, the doctor should be called immediately. Many people have trouble seeing, develop allergies or their faces swollen. Severe depression is another important side effect of cortisol that must be treated right away. Pancreatitis and seizures are also critical side effects of this type of treatment and should be seen as an emergency situation and treated as soon as possible.
